It’s tailgating season!
While most people are looking for the beer cooler at the tailgate or game watch party, I am always looking to see what is on the food table. I snack through the entire game and then waddle home stuffed. And since we had a tailgate themed party at work today, I thought I would show you some of my favorite game day snacks.
Tortilla Chips and 6 Layer Dip
When it comes to chips and dip, I am a sucker for a more Mexican flavored dip filled with refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. And I use tortilla chips with a hint of lime, giving the dip an extra bit of citrus flavor.
Shrimp is my favorite type of seafood. Whether it’s hot, cold, fried, steamed, or broiled, I can eat shrimp every single day. But there is something extra special about ice cold shrimp, seasoned with Old Bay (because I’m a Maryland girl), and served with cocktail sauce.
My mother makes these deviled eggs with the smoothest whipped filling and teeny tiny bits of bacon. I need to get the recipe from her and learn how to make them for myself.
Somewhere in all this food I suppose I need some vegetables, right? Green beans are my go-to tailgate veggie, though I don’t know how healthy they are after they have been boiled down and smothered in salt and seasoning meat. They may not be good for my body, but they are certainly good for my soul.
Chicken wings are a game day staple! I eat them fried, baked, or barbequed! I prefer the drums over the flats, so I love when my friends who prefer flats split an order with me. And on days when I am really feeling comfortable, I will dip them in ranch dressing or mumbo sauce. Yum!
