Clothing, Shoes, and Accessories
Add structure to your t-shirt and jeans
Look pulled together in a t-shirt and jeans by styling it with a structured blazer or jacket.
Cuff your hem or tuck in your shirt
You can also change up your denim look by cuffing the hem of your jeans, partially tucking in your shirt, or adding a stylish belt.
Pick your outfit the night before
Lay out your clothes the night before, and pick a solid or neutral colored outfit. Then add a statement piece, such as a colorful scarf, structured handbag, or pretty pair of shoes.
Wear a simple and classy pair of heels
Find a simple and comfortable pair of heels, and put them on when you need a wardrobe (and confidence) boost.
Get rid of wrinkles in your clothes
If you don’t have time to iron your outfit, hang it up on a hanger in the bathroom while you shower so the steam can help relax the wrinkles. Or, try a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Not only does it relax the wrinkles, it also has fabric refresher in it, so you get a freshness boost.
Beauty, skincare, and makeup
Simplify your makeup routine
Need to look pulled together but don’t have time to do a full face of makeup? Follow these four easy makeup steps that can be accomplished in less than ten minutes. I know for sure; I’ve timed it!
- Fill in your eyebrows
- Conceal and powder any major blemishes
- Slather a pink or mauve cream on your lips and cheeks, and
- Swipe on two coats of mascara.
Keep your nails groomed and pretty
Keep your nails filed evenly and remove your polish if it is chipped. If you’re in a rush, swipe on one coat of a quick-drying clear or nude polish. Or try a quick press on nail kit! They last more than a week, and they look just like a gel manicure.
Throw on sunglasses and lipstick
If you have to look pulled together in a hurry while you’re out and about, throw on a pair of sunglasses and some lip color. I keep flattering, universal lip colors and oversized sunglasses in my purse all the time, for just these moments.
Keep a stocked emergency kit in your bag
Also, if you have an unexpected schedule change that requires you to go somewhere right after work, keep a “freshen up bag” in your purse. My little cosmetic bag includes:
- Bobbi pins
- Headband/ponytail holder
- Secret to-go deodorant ball
- Feminine wipes
- Sample packet of facial moisturizer
- Sample perfume spray
- Extra earrings/ earring backs
- Portable phone charger
And if you don’t want to build your own, here is a cute 21 piece kit that has quite a bit of the necessities you may need in your freshen up kit.
Focus on your skincare
Keep your skin healthy and moisturized. Taking 10 extra minutes every morning to cleanse and moisturize your skin will not only keep it healthy and glowing, but also reduce wrinkles and fight the signs of aging. When your skin is naturally clear and dewy, you won’t have to spend as much time on a heavy makeup routine.
